Our own Nathan Vazquez stopped in the library this morning before hitting the road to Madison.  Nathan picked up some great new books to read as he makes his way to Madison to represent West Allis in the state wrestling tournament.  We are very proud of Nathan and look forward to hearing how the tournament goes!

Saturday School

We had an AMAZING turn out for our Saturday School this past Saturday (around 37 students and more than 50 parents!). I had the privilege of leading the parent session.  I taught the parents about my role here at Horace Mann and gave them the opportunity to play with the technology that we use in our classrooms everyday!  Parents, Teachers and Students had the opportunity to visit the Wisconsin Humane Society! Here are some pictures of the great families who were able to attend! Don't forget to check out books on your favorite animals right here in the World's Best Library!!!

What's going on in the library?

Pardon my dust.....

This week I am spending all extra moments of my day conducting inventory in the library. This means I scan every book in our library to see if I can locate any lost books. Thank you for being patient with me through this process as this is the first time I have ever done inventory!

Golden Book Award

The highly coveted Golden Book Award has finally made its appearance here at Horace Mann Elementary School.  This award can be easily be earned by being the world's best class while using the library.  This week, Mrs. Gold's 4/5 class earned the award by being true leaders of our school.  Her class exemplifies the expectations in the library by using manners, being organized, being prepared, and enjoying books all while using an appropriate volume in the quietest place in the school!  Congrats to Mrs. Gold's class! Who will earn the award next week?  What can you do to help your class earn the golden book?
